The Wild Taste of Sustainable Seafood

Seafood from the cool coastal waters of Oregon tastes incredibly fresh and full of flavor. Yet, the majority of the catch from local fishermen was sold out of state and or suffered low prices due to a lack of awareness and cooking experience.

The state-managed seafood marketing commissions needed help repositioning and marketing the wild, high-quality, sustainably-caught seafood products from Oregon. Improving pricing was also critical to saving the fleet of commercial fishing vessels in Oregon ports, most of which are family-owned and operated small businesses.

The result:  From Oregon’s wild Albacore Tuna to Dungeness Crab and Yaquina Bay Chinook Salmon, chefs now call out Oregon fish and shellfish in their seafood dishes all across the country. Prices and demand for more sustainably fished seafood has risen steadily across the U.S.
