Nancy’s Oatmilk

Nancy’s Gets a Healthy Dollop of New Design

Nancy’s made probiotics palatable. Chuck and Sue Kesey were dairy pioneers in the ‘70s, innovating how people thought about health food. So innovative, in fact, it took about 45 years for the rest of the world to catch up to the benefits of probiotics. It’s only natural that Nancy’s would be the first to bring oatmilk yogurt to market in the US. Five years after they debuted, plant-based products had become overwhelmingly popular and Nancy’s no longer had to shoulder the responsibility of defining a whole new category. They refocused, reformulated, then came to Flint for a redesign to set them apart.

Coco Moon

Coco Moon

Coco Moon is a Hawaii based company creating luxuriously soft baby essentials. We were asked to help this small, yet fast growing brand connect with high-end retailers, boutiques and the emerging direct to consumer market. We tapped into what was true to Coco Moon–the founder’s island roots, her modern style and a connection to family–to create an elevated brand identity.

Every touchpoint of the brand and packaging was an opportunity to connect with the customer. A refreshed, hand-hewn moon and stars with Hawaii’s iconic plumeria, supported by a modern typeface with gently waved serifs, creates a logo mark that is playfully comforting with a hint of sophistication. We developed a carefree, island natural color palette grounded in deep ocean blue paired with sun-washed tropical colors, reflecting the brands personality and allowing flexibility to expand into future product lines.

The result: A repositioned brand identity that appeals to independent boutiques, department stores and sophisticated consumers throughout the world, while staying true to Coco Moon’s Hawaiian roots and local community.

Siskiyou Sungrown

A Lesson in CBD: Cannabis Branding Differentiation

Siskiyou Sungrown cultivates the therapeutic power of cannabis. They came to us for a redesign that expressed their premium position, integrity and differentiator. Flint delivered a new design program to elevate their position, tell their story, educate clearly and express the power of nature in their products.

Since the 1990s, owners Cedar and Madrone Grey’s business has been a journey to helping those with critical health conditions heal naturally. Originally medicinal cannabis growers, today they impeccably farm high-quality cannabis plants at the edge of Southern Oregon’s Klamath-Siskiyou mountain wilderness. The legalization of cannabis led Siskiyou Sungrown to further develop its line of tinctures and RSO oils with full-spectrum plant benefits and high potency to reach a growing consumer base.

Kona Spiked Island Seltzer

How a Hawaiian Beer Brand Popped Open the Seltzer Market

Kona Brewing Co. is Hawaii’s answer to the craft beer scene. With iconic brews evocative of the island life and environment, Kona has created die-hard fans across the US and around the world. But recent US beer sales have declined as the hard seltzer market exploded—and Kona knew this trend was here to stay. While the tendency for a new seltzer line may have been to lean into the ubiquitous white packaging of leaders like White Claw and Truly, we led the team in branding their line of Spiked Island Seltzer the Kona way. Instead of simply making Kona fit into the seltzer category, we defined what hard seltzer was for Kona. By leveraging the brand’s story, we were able to disrupt the crowded seltzer can shelf line-up, and introduce a new option to Kona’s Ohana and hard seltzer drinkers alike.

Tillamook

Tillamook

Growing from a regional institution to a national brand doesn’t happen overnight—after nearly two decades working with Tillamook, we saw that firsthand. To capture the beloved dairy co-op’s 100+ year history for customers on a different coast, we knew everything we helped create would need to stay true to its roots.

With a new, top-level conceptual master design in hand, we partnered and coordinated with Tillamook’s constellation of agencies to bring the brand to life. After unpacking every element of their packaging—content, color, typography, imagery, materials, hierarchy of information—we helped bring cohesiveness across six different dairy categories, applied to everything from ice cream cartons to cheese shrink-film.

The result: A thorough design system that helped bring the brand from concept to reality, with simple and bold cues to make each of their more than 450 products feel special, yet clearly a part of Tillamook’s story.

Werner Gourmet Meat Snacks

Chew on Our Rebrand of an Iconic Oregon Jerky Company

The family behind Tillamook, Oregon’s, Werner Gourmet Meat Snacks is rowdy, irreverent and passionate. After 25 years in business and in the midst of a snack food renaissance, their brand was being overlooked. Their packaging was dated and didn’t reflect the quality of the product or the brand’s history. It was time to sink their teeth into a remedy. With a stable of cured-meat snacks at the fingertips of everyone from long-haul truckers to soccer moms, Werner needed to figure out how to get their foot back in the door. We led the Werner family through a brand redesign to reignite the consumer’s lasting love of their product—with a healthy dose of seasoning for extra flavor.

Kona Brewing Co

KONA BREWING CO.

Every story has a setting. For Kona Brewing Co., it’s always been Hawaii. From the now-iconic brand’s very first packaging design in 1994, we knew how important it was to both celebrate and respect what makes this island paradise a place people all over the world aspire to visit, then return to again and again.

Inspired by the idea of delivering a little Hawaiian vacation on every bottle, we looked to shine warm sunlight on the Hawaii’s most celebrated landmarks and traditions, while always being careful not to exploit the culture or other popular notions.

The result:  A brand that celebrates place and special culture that has set Kona Brewing Co. apart from all other craft beers on the shelf. The true strength of brand is helping the buyer feel included, part of Kona’s Ohana, and picture themselves in Hawaii with every brand touch.

Ponzi Vineyards

PONZI VINEYARDS

Family heritage, a strong work ethic and an attention to detail, quality and nature has driven the Ponzi family for over 45 years. We first met them in 1986 and began helping them to establish the first Oregon wine brand to emerge in the luxury wine market world-wide. Our role in designing for the Ponzi’s has been to help them build their legacy, stay relevant and engage the next generation wine drinker with their beautiful products.

Dick and Nancy Ponzi came to Oregon in the mid 1960’s, planted their small vineyard and built a home, winery and wine press from hand. They raised three children in the wine business and two have taken the helm to run the company today as winemaker and general manager.  Their story, along with their Italian family heritage, are the roots of the brand identity.

The result: A brand that expresses family legacy and elegance and works to position the brand and one of the finest producers of Pinot noir in the World. By creating distinctive wine tier packages, reflecting a range of prices for different experiences and audiences, we increased sales for the company very quickly. The variety supports their direct sales program as well, giving loyal buyers something special as they get more engaged with the brand.   Most importantly though, the brand design supports an ongoing marketing strategy that has made the Ponzi Vineyards name synonymous with the best Oregon wines.

WillaKenzie Estate

WILLAKENZIE ESTATE

Building a brand with legacy is one thing. Updating a brand that’s endured for decades is quite another. We’ve been fortunate enough to do both for WillaKenzie Estate; retaining the roots of our decades-old original design and re-imagining it for a new generation of wine buyers.

WillaKenzie’s method of gravity flow winemaking was once unique to the region, but after 25 years it was bound to inspire many followers. To evolve our design beyond giving a sense of looking up at the winery’s steep hillsides, we instead looked down to the differentiator beneath our feet.

The result: A sophisticated crest celebrating the two rivers that form the region’s unique soil, with premium brand and package design that exudes elegance consistent with the refined Pinot Noir inside.

Square Mile Cider

SQUARE MILE CIDER

Sometimes the best inspiration is right in your backyard. To refresh a brand for Square Mile Cider, we looked no further than our shared home in the Pacific Northwest, a place known for its adventurous spirit and bearded pioneers—historic and modern alike.

Inspired by National and State Park signage and the rugged beauty that surrounds them, we set our compass toward a tactile, natural feel, with small details to bring an extra sense of Pacific Northwest personality.

The result: A bold logo, easy to read from down the trail, with a badge-like quality that effortlessly transcends a variety of media and greets the viewer with a sense that adventure awaits.
